Transformation House I - Anoka House

A Women's Treatment Center

The Anoka women's facility uses a four-plex apartment building. This size creates a family atmosphere which helps the 12 clients feel close and secure. This facility is located on North Ferry Street, one-half block off highway 10 in the city of Anoka, Minnesota.

Cheryl Johnson is supervising counselor of Anoka Womens. Cheryl challenges her clients to look at themselves.

Each apartment houses 3 to 4 clients with two bedrooms in each unit, one single and one shared. Each client is assessed and their individual needs are noted.

Cooking in the kitchen becomes an opportunity to learn and to teach others. Living skills are stressed. Dining becomes an opportunity to communicate while learning and sharing. Each cook is able to see their culinary creations appreciated.

The State of Minnesota licenses the counseling staff. Technicians are trained to be able to observe and guide the clients in living healthy lives. Transformation House is a Spiritual based program, which approaches each person's life as a whole. Problems are addressed and where there are needs not met by the program, referrals to appropriate programs are made.
